I just got back from an amazing trip to Peru, walking the Inca Trail and then exploring the wonderful country. As always, when I travel I am reminded of how life just flows into place when you are open to situations, don't worry about them and just let them happen, and also slightly amused by the unexpected way that journeys tend to unfold! Ironically, on the plane journey home I was able to watch The Hobbit: an unexpected journey, which left me with a few little quotes I think are worth remembering:
“Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!"
“There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something. You
certainly usually find something, if you look, but it is not always
quite the something you were after.”
and finally, my favourite
“Where there's life there's hope.”

tomorrow
loving this song, with the perfect little message....
'so while you wait for the sun to rise again, think of us dancing in the rain'
I saw a quote along these lines at a center I was teaching at the other day, and hearing it in the song today confirmed to me... sometimes you just have to dance in the rain, and maybe even jump in the puddles ;-)

These words just seemed like a simple reminder of the best way to do this... sometimes you may even want to let go of the last book and pick up a whole new one!!

Yoga Jewellery, Off the Mat and Into the World, and nude yoga calenders!
I just stumbled upon this whilst looking for a present for a friend... not only do Avigna Yoga make jewelery, they have also teamed up with yet another wonderful charity Off the Mat and Into the World
who, through yoga, work to inspire conscious, sustainable activism and to ignite grass roots social change. Avigna Yoga have made a calender for 2013 of beautiful nude photos of yoga poses, with 100% of profits from these sales go toward rescuing, rehabilitating and empowering women who have been victims of trafficking and sexual slavery. I love it... they remind me a bit of a Man Ray photo...!!

Street Yoga as Inspiration
I'm always keeping an eye on these guys and what they do as it's something that's so close to my heart and to my own work. This month celebrates 10 years of Street Yoga being in service, and I thought it was a good time to give a little nod in their direction. If my little plan comes to fruition I may even take a trip stateside in 2013 to visit them...
Street Yoga is a non-profit organization that teaches yoga, mindful
breathing, and compassionate communication to youth and families and
their caregivers struggling with homelessness, poverty, abuse,
addiction, trauma and behavioral challenges so they can grow stronger,
heal from past traumas, and create for themselves a life that is
inspired, safe, and joyful. Their programs are based on solid evidence
that yoga helps with physical well being, depression, anxiety, trauma
and PTSD. They are an amazing organisation, and one that I wish was more recognised... so please check them out and spread the word!
